Getting to Porto & ISEP

The most common way to travel to Porto from another country is by taking a direct flight to Francisco Sá Carneiro International Airport (OPO) or, alternatively, to Lisbon Airport (LIS), followed by onward travel to Porto.

By plane

Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport (OPO)
    – Porto’s main international airport, with direct connections to major European and international destinations.

Lisbon Airport (LIS)
    – If arriving via Lisbon, travel onward to Porto by train, long-distance bus, or car.

By car

• From the North:
    – Via the A3 motorway (Braga / Valença)
             – The most direct and fastest route from Braga (approximately 40–50 minutes ) and the Minho region.
    – Via the A28 motorway (Viana do Castelo / Northern Coast)
             – A coastal route and a good alternative for those coming from Viana do Castelo, entering Porto through the Foz or Boavista areas.

• From the South (Lisbon / Coimbra / Aveiro):
    – Via A1 – North Motorway
             – The main motorway connecting Lisbon to Porto, with a travel time of approximately 3 hours (around 300 km).
             – The route passes through Coimbra and Aveiro and offers multiple service areas

• From the Northeast (Bragança / Trás-os-Montes):
    – Via A4 – Transmontana Motorway
             – The most direct and modern route. The journey takes approximately 2 to 2.5 hours to cover 200–215 km.
             – The route passes through Vila Real and includes the Marão Tunnel.

• From Spain (Galicia / Madrid):
    – From Galicia (Vigo / Northern Spain)
             – Enter Portugal via Valença/Tui, following the A3 in Portugal or A55/AP-9 in Spain.
    – From Madrid / Salamanca / Northeastern Spain
             – Enter Portugal via Quintanilha (Bragança) and continue on the A4 motorway towards Porto.

By train

• Rail services are operated by CP – Comboios de Portugal:CP – Comboios de Portugal
    – Alfa Pendular and Intercidades (long-distance)
    – Urban/Suburban trains within the Porto Metropolitan Area

Main stations: Campanhã and São Bento.

By bus

• You can reach Porto by bus through:
     – Rede ExpressosRede Expressos
     – FlixBusFlixBus

Most buses stop at the Campanhã Intermodal Terminal (TIC) , a central hub located next to Campanhã train station. Both operators offer frequent routes, comfortably connecting Porto to destinations across Portugal and Europe.

     Metro do Porto – Line D (Yellow) – Change to Line D (Yellow) towards Hospital de São João
        – Exit at IPO station
          – 5–7 minutes walk to ISEP

     Line 604 : Aeroporto-Hospital de São João
           – 5–7 minutes walk to ISEP

Campanhã Railway Station and Campanhã Intermodal Terminal (TIC)

• Metro do Porto Metro do Porto
